Module 1: Tools

Software
Music production applications. Plug-in instruments and effects. Working with midi and audio files.
Module 2: Compositional Elements
Creating basic beats, basslines, pads, stabs, arpeggios and melodies.
Recording an audio track.
Module 3: Plugin Effects
Commonly used plug-in effects, basic controls and uses. Includes: EQ, Compression, Reverb, Delay, Filters
Module 4: Arrangement
Arranging compositional elements into a club-friendly track with mix in and out sections, breakdowns, using fills and effects to aid transitions between sections.
Automation is also reviewed in this module.
Module 5: Mixdown
Overview of the mixdown process, use of sub-mixes, final eq, pan and level checks.
Module 6: D.I.Y. Mastering
EQ, compression, limiting of final mix.
Instructor
Colin Snape
Initially a classically trained pianist, Colin Snape (aka Scrambler) has studied jazz at the V.C.A. and has been performing live for over twenty years. Since turning to computer generated sounds in the mid nineties, Scrambler has been refining his production skills and developing a unique sound that blends an eclectic musical background with contemporary styles and techniques.
Colin currently divides his time between gigs, teaching and studio duties for such artists as TV Rock and Vandalism, and Duke and Duke- a minimal duo featuring himself and Markojux.
