DMC Australian Final 2005

Melbournes Hip Hop community turned out in force on saturday for the 2005 Australian DMC finals. A change in format meant this years competition was an open battle with 25 DJs in the elimination round with just the top six progressing thru to the finals stage where they met the Tasmanian and reigning champions. The finalists were DJ Dameza (Tasmanian champion), Chango-Phat (Melbourne), Kansel (Adelaide), A-Style (Melbourne), Perplex (Melbourne), Skoob (Newcastle), Snair (Adelaide) and reigning champion Staen 1 (Adelaide).

The first 5 finalists all had their supporters but it was the last 3 to compete that stepped it up several gears . Newcastles Skoob (who was NSW runner-up in 2004) took out third spot with 7 points while Adelaides Snair took second with 9 points. The night belonged to the reigning champ tho, who took the stage to like he owned it and blew away the rest with his trademark Gangsta routine. Precise cuts, juggles, disses, nothing missed a beat thru his whole six minutes climaxing in a finale that had the whole venue screaming in amazement. In a unanimous decision Staen 1 retained his Australian title with the maximum 21 points. He will now be flown to the UK for the World finals in London on the 25/26 of September.

Without the involvement of the following companies, DMC would be unable to send our Australian champion to the World finals for the 10th year in a row. DMC implore their audience and the wider DJ community to support these companies and their products and services in return.
